Some of the features to look into include: the resolution, whether you need a flatbed scanner or an all in one document printer/scanner/fax machine.

The minimum resolution per inch should be 1200X1200 dpi. There are document scanners with a double resolution or even higher. The higher the resolution, the more you can enlarge the document without getting a blurred image.

Do you know of a portable document scanner that don’t need to be connected to a computer to scan a document
In other words, I am looking for a gadget that after scanning the document it saves it in a temp memory in the scanner. Then you connect it to the computer to upload as a pdf or word doc.

    berrizalina,
A stand-alone scanner is an awesome concept – I’ve heard that they exist, but will have to research them more and get back to you.
